Hello, my dear friends list. I have a story to tell you.
The story begins with our intrepid heroine–that's me, in case you missed the memo–and her stalwart companion–that's
lumi21, for the curious–wandering into Barnes & Noble in Union Sq. after dinner because, hey, they had time to kill. Upon walking into the building, they spy a sign. This sign tells them that Ben Barnes and other member of the cast will be there for a discussion and signing. Let me repeat that just to make it clear–BEN BARNES, of Prince Caspian and Stardust fame, was going to be there.
"Oh cool!" our intrepid heroine says. "When?"
Monday, May 5. 7pm.
"...what time is it?"
As the time was just after 7:30pm, Scott and I decided to go up to the event area anyway. After all, the discussion might be over, but the signing had to still be going on. In fact it was.
"I wonder who else is here?" I asked.
"I see Georgie Henley."
"Ok, sadly I don't care about her as much as I care about the other boys."
Upon venturing closer, I was able to assess that, yes, William Moseley was there. Once more for those who are having fangirl moments: WILLIAM MOSELEY was there. Signing books. I promptly freaked out, and I think I scared Scott half to death. (Sorry!) But, I decided, I didn't really need a book, and I didn't really want to wait in line, and I didn't have a camera other than my phone, so I went over to the comic section to see if they had any Iron Man stuff. (They did, for the record.)
"Well, wait a minute," Scott says. "I'm going to go see if I want a book."
He did. So, of course, I had to get one too. And we got in line. After a few minutes of debate, I decided that I could, if I was very quick, run home, get my camera, and come back. Yeah. I ran. Well, I ran a block and a half before I snagged a cab. And then I snagged a cab going back. And I had amazing timing, as I got back just as the line moved towards the table.
So, armed with a camera, a book, andshaking hands a smile, I got my book signed.
The general gist of it is this:
Anna Popplewell was adorable and pleasant and smiling after an hour of signing books. Georgie Henley was quiet, and looked a little tired and miserable. (I sympathize. Her hand was probably about ready to fall off.) William Moseley and Ben Barnes were both still all smiles and jokes. I had a small conversation with William Moseley, that went essentially as follows:
Me: You guys must be getting pretty tired of signing things by now.
WM: Well, it could be worse. We're lucky to have such great fans.
Me: Or crazy ones.
WM: We're the really crazy ones.
Me: Well, that's good to know!
It was great. I love their accents, but then, you know me.
That's pretty much all.
